NaviFUS Epilepsy Clinical Study Featured by the Focused Ultrasound Foundation
The Focused Ultrasound Foundation featured NaviFUS’ recent Epilepsia publication on non-invasive focused ultrasound neuromodulation for drug-resistant epilepsy, highlighting the study’s clinical significance and continued development of the field.
The Focused Ultrasound Foundation recently featured NaviFUS’ clinical study on low-intensity focused ultrasound neuromodulation for drug-resistant epilepsy in its news coverage and newsletter.
The study, published in Epilepsia, evaluated neuronavigation-guided low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) in adults with drug-resistant epilepsy through a randomized, sham-controlled crossover design.
The Foundation highlighted several important aspects of the study, including:
- The procedure was safe and well tolerated
- Treatment was personalized to each participant’s seizure onset zone
- The study adds new clinical evidence supporting the continued development of non-invasive focused ultrasound neuromodulation
The study was conducted in Taiwan using the NaviFUS neuronavigation-guided focused ultrasound system and represents another step toward expanding precision, non-invasive approaches for patients with difficult-to-treat neurological disorders.
